1917 Mercury Dime
Coin Info
As compared to 1916 Mercury dimes, those minted in 1917 have a much less storied past. The second year of the series is well represented, thanks to the fact that the United States Mint struck 1917 dimes in tremendous volume. In fact, right around 90 million dimes were struck that year, with most of them coming from the Philadelphia mint.
Here’s a breakdown of mintage numbers and values for 1917 Mercury dimes:

Generally speaking, 1917 Mercury dimes are common across most grades. In fact, they can be acquired for nearly bullion value in grades of Fair-2 and About Good-3. In Good-4, they are extremely common and are ideal for those who are collecting Mercury dimes and inserting them into coin folders.
If you prefer Mercury dimes in higher grades, issues from 1917 are still plentiful in nice condition. In the mid-circulated grades of Fine-12 to Choice VF-30, 1917 dimes cost around $10 to $25. If, however, you would like to buy uncirculated 1917 dimes, prices jump, especially for the Denver and San Francisco issues. Expect to pay around $200 for a 1917-D Mercury dime in MS-60 and nearly $175 for a 1917-S dime in the same grade. Conversely, a 1917 Mercury dime from Philadelphia cost around $40 in MS-60.
