1910 Barber quarters are somewhat scarcer than quarters from the previous decade in general. In fact, as many Barber quarter connoisseurs will notice, the overall production of the series as it entered into its final few years was markedly lower than in the previous years of the coin.

In 1910, a couple things helped lead to the more anemic numbers. Firstly, a smaller demand for the quarter that year helped push numbers lower. There was also the absence of two branch mints; the New Orleans mint stopped producing coins the previous year, and the San Francisco mint did not strike quarters in 1910.

Here’s a look at the mintage and values for 1910 Barber quarters:

  • 1910 – 2,244,000; $14

  • 1910-D – 1,500,000; $15

  • 1910 proof – 551; $850

*Values are for coins in Good-4, unless otherwise noted.

Of the two business-strike issues, the Denver mint (D) had the lower of the two regular issues. However, Philadelphia produced a rather small number of quarters that year, too. Even the proof figures were down somewhat from previous years. The key to remember when buying 1910 quarters or, really, coins of all types from any years, is to buy the best you can afford. This will allow you to obtain coins you find desirable and may help yield better returns down the road when the time comes to sell.
