1993 American Silver Eagle

1993 American silver eagles are bullion coins that contain one ounce of .999 fine silver. They are highly popular with bullion investors, who prize the coins for their silver purity and high level of recognition world wide, which makes them easy to liquidate both in the United States and abroad. However, love for the silver eagle isn’t strictly limited to investors, as collectors, too, appreciate the coin for its beautiful design.

In fact, you may recognize the obverse design from another American coin – the half dollar. From 1916 through 1947, Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design graced the obverse of the half dollar, and this same design was lovingly replicated on the American silver eagle. Buying either an uncirculated or proof example of a 1993 American silver eagle shouldn’t be very difficult, as there are plenty to go around. 6,763,752 uncirculated examples and 405,913 proof specimens were made at the Philadelphia mint. Values for both coins are always fluctuating based on the prevailing silver value; generally, uncirculated pieces are valued about $5 above silver pot price, while proof specimens from 1993 are worth $150 to $200.
